Reading Ladders can be fun and rewarding to develop intervention for students who have completed an Interest Inventory or another document highlighting interest choices. The benefit of a Reading Ladder is the fact that these personalized plans provide differentiation for accelerated readers, reluctant readers, and readers that need challenged. These ladders will add interest and motivation for all levels of student reading abilities as addressed by the new learning standards (Common Core).
Reading Ladders support formative assessment practices while building an instructional sequence. This tool accesses and accelerates opportunities for students along a learning progression. As the students’ progress with the ladder, each lesson description must include various formative assessments for comprehension, accuracy, fluency, and expansion of higher level vocabulary.
