All Writers are Readers, but not all readers can write. Help your students become confident writers and watch their reading soar!
What I Say I Can Write, What I write, I Can Read
Emergent writers are still highly concrete operational and kinesthetic-tactile learners. It is important that these learners move from the concrete motor skills that they instinctively prefer and proceed into the new and more abstract skill of reading.
There are three objectives for this booklet:
•to encourage young children to begin the writing process
•to provide all children an opportunity to speak, write and read in a positive reinforced learning environment
•to enable emergent writers to succeed and experience the joy of reading their newly created material
This Emergent Writer Activity Booklet is divided into two parts. This booklet encourages young children to write the words they know in their world and extend the words into complete sentences. All children in the early stages of writing, whether in preschool or elementary school, will benefit from the activities described in this booklet.
